Report on Ordinance No. 9 of 1904.
I have examined the accompanying Ordinance, entitled
An Ordinance for enabling the Tung Wah Hospital to acquire, hold, mortgage and sell land and hereditaments in the Colony of Hongkong,
and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the Governor's Instructions.
This Ordinance is intended to remove any doubt which may exist as to the power of the Tung Wah Hospital to acquire and hold lands and buildings not directly required for the purposes of the Hospital; and to expressly confer upon the Hospital such powers; and also power to invest any of its surplus funds in lands or buildings: and for such purposes and subject to certain specified restrictions, to acquire, hold, mortgage or sell such lands or buildings.
